Pun-y Business

So Grandma Sharon is the Queen of all Puns, and the rest of us all follow her lead. So it was no surprise when she got Mackenzie these "pi" shirts for xmas, especially with Mommy being a Math teacher and all!!
And of course Mackenzie needs anything with a pumpkin on it - since she did enter the world on Thanksgiving morning!!

And it is becoming increasingly difficult to take get the 'required' pics of her because 1. she is always moving around so fast

2. she is fascinated with the camera, so she comes toward it (as seen in pic #2 - she was getting angry with me that I wouldn't let her have the camera to play)

3. big ol' foster is always right there with her (as evidenced in a pic that is giving me grief on showing up here!! GRR)

I am trying to learn how to embed the pics in with text on posts, but blogger is not cooperative with my efforts!

Raging River

So last week was a bit of a wild one, weather wise for us....on top of the rising flood waters throughout the state. Jamey has been working daily on flood duty, helping to secure closed roads and the levys. The stories he comes home telling are quite comical. He is very lucky to have a wonderful and supportive boss, as well - as sherriff duties have become his primary focus this past week. Anyway - on one shift, Mackenzie and I went down to take him something and happened to have the camera with so we could capture some shots. Nothing exciting - Jamey was stationed outside the President Riverboat on 2nd & Ripley, but we were able to get a few good ones of the Centennial Bridge (for you native QCA-ers). Mackenzie was quite confused with the water in the parking lot - she was pointing saying "yucky" & "No-no". We and our families have been lucky and remained dry, although our neighborhood did flash flood during the tsnami of tornados and storms on Thursday. We had been stuck in my parents basement for quite some time, and were thankfully able to get into the neighborhood just before the water flooded out the main road. Seeing many of the neighbors drying things on the lawn and with industrial dumpsters on their driveways is a daily reminder of how lucky we were! (and for those of you that remember that Foster is TERRIFIED of storms - yes, he was home alone for the majority on Thursday and yes, my heart was aching for the big boy as we sat in the basement at Richard & Jane's. Jane kept saying "animals have instincts - he will be okay", but I wasn't buying it. Even furry big boys need their mommys! Foster did cuddle extra close that night in bed, when we finally made it home and into bed!)

Balls to the Walls

Mackenzie quite enjoyed the ball pit on her first trip to Jungle Bungle.

Cultural Adventures

Gracie and Mackenzie had a fabulous time dancing to the greek music and sampling the food at Greek Fest.

5 years (and counting)

Last Saturday, Jamey & I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful evening with good friends at Greek Fest - after a busy Friday night together and without Mackenzie, we decided it would be more fun and special to spend time as a family and with close friends, then a standard romantic dinner for two or anything....We can have dinner together any night, but Greek Fest only happens once a year!!

Wilbur & his "MAMA"

So my sister and Joey took Will to the zoo the other day. Will enjoyed looking at all the animals and calling them "pup-pups". That is, until he got to the elephants. Where Kate reports he pointed and cried "Mama" clear as could be! HA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Kate was eventually able to laugh about it, after a moment of shock and awe. Such a comedian - just like Jamey, who captured this quality image during last year's Boo @ the Zoo fun.

SITS (and no - I am not talking about the types of bath!)

I have not been one for many blog commentary, as I always seem to be getting malicious ones. However, I was lead to SITS from the monkey friends and thought this is truly a novel idea!!! Especially if it could help raise more awareness for Parker and his upcoming benefit {but I am only doing it on MY blog - I don't suspect Sarah would be too good with it, as she has been on myspace twice (and still has yet to approve my friend request, not that I am holding a grudge!)}
And then, for your viewing pleasure - Bambi & Rudolph & Associates dropped in our backyard the other night - down by the bonfire pit. So of course, there was Captain Camera out snapping away. But it is always neat to experience nature up close and personal.....as long as they aren't trying to LIVE in the house with you, a la our spring critter!
SITS is currently having a contest - go check it out for yourself! Click here.

Dynamic Duos

Happy June! As our 5 year anniversary is quickly approaching - it seemed today was the day for Mackenzie to celebrate twosomes as well, by sharing favorite things with favorite friends. PS - Foster was very well cared for this morning, as the girls fed him their leftover donuts when I was in the bathroom.
