It has been too long!

Wow - almost a month since I last updated and so much has happened with our big girl. She is now officially one years old!!!! Hopefully I will be able to get some pics of the celebration and birthday girl up here soon - our internet at home is givng us grief, which has made it next to impossible and really frustrating to try to upload anything....or do anything online for that matter!

lots of love 0 warm and fuzzy kind

This weekend, we had a small baby shower for our very close family friend - Sarah to help prepare to welcome her new little boy, Parker. Mackenzie was happy to be included and enjoyed her time playing with her aunts and grandmas, along with the very fun balloons. The highlight of the party for Mackenzie had to be her first taste of a chocolate cupcake - she loved it so much it required a wardrobe change afterwards!! And when I was picking her up from Grandma's after cleaning up the party - I let her sit in the front seat while I packed the car and retrieved her car seat. Obviously, the front seat was a hit - as she immediately was pretending to drive the car! I am still a bit baffled as to how she knows how to drive the car - since she can't see us doing it to mimic in her rear-facing car seat! Either way though - it was cute and funny! Also - please note her fuzzy pastel sweater she is wearing over her jumper - that was a gift knitted by some of my students' in the school knitting club!! I was glad she got to wear it to such an important and special occasion for us as well. Obviously, the sweater is incredibly meaningful and special to me - I almost cried when they gave it to me last year. You can be sure that is going right into the hope chest as soon as she outgrows it! (which as evidenced by her driving skills - may be sooner rather then later!)

Trick or Treat

Yes, it has been a busy week here, as we celebrated Mackenzie last "first" holiday! (which does not seem possible!) We had two busy nights of going to visit our special friends. Jamey and I had fun with the trick or treating - when possible, we would put her on the stoop, ring the doorbell/knock and then run and hide along side the house/porch/stoop (old school "ding-dong-ditch" style). Mackenzie did a good job of sitting patiently and waiting for the friend to come open the door for her - it was so funny to see their faces when they found a small turtle on their doorstep. We did get some real cute pics too! (but I don't think I will upload them all, as it would be substantial) And yes, I did add a cute pink and green bow to the top of her costume so everyone would know she was a little girl turtle! Mackenzie continues to love suckers - she enjoyed eating one with Grandma Sharon, and then covering Grandma's face with sticky, sloppy, gooey wet kisses. The more Sharon laughed, the more kisses she got. It was quite priceless! And as a big bonus this week, Sarah and Gracie came across free tickets to see the children's musical group,

the Wiggles! Mackenzie really enjoyed the show and did remarkably well at sitting still on Mommy's lap for the 90 minutes!
